Sunday’s FIA Formula 3 Feature Race at Spa-Francorchamps was cut short after treacherous conditions and multiple incidents brought proceedings to a halt on just the second lap.

Rain had already begun falling as the cars lined up on the grid, a sharp contrast to the dry conditions experienced earlier in the weekend. With the formation lap taking place behind the safety car, drivers were immediately faced with low grip and poor visibility.

As the race got underway, chaos unfolded almost instantly. James spun at Eau Rouge on the opening lap, one of several drivers caught out by the conditions. Further up the field, Brando Badoer and Tim Tramnitz collided down the Kemmel Straight.

While James and Tramnitz were able to return their damaged cars to the pit lane, Badoer was forced to retire on the spot.

With safety crews attending to incidents and persistent heavy rain making racing untenable, the red flag was brought out twice in quick succession. The second suspension of the race proved final, with Race Control confirming that conditions would not improve in time for a restart.

The FIA Formula 3 Championship now looks ahead to Round 9 in Budapest from 1–3 August, where James and the team will aim to bounce back from a frustrating and rain-soaked weekend in Belgium.
