James made forward progress in today’s FIA Formula 3 Sprint Race at the Red Bull Ring, recovering from an early front wing change to climb from P27 to P20 by the chequered flag.

Starting near the back after a disrupted Qualifying, James was caught up in early traffic and forced to pit under the first Safety Car to replace a damaged front wing. The interruption followed an opening few laps that saw multiple incidents across the field, including a stoppage for Louis Sharp and contact between several midfield drivers.

Despite the setback, James rejoined the race and made the most of the remaining laps to regain ground. As the Safety Car periods shook up the order and opened overtaking windows, he kept it clean and consistent to work his way up through the pack.

The race saw ART’s James Wharton take his maiden Formula 3 victory, with Alessandro Giusti and Ugo Ugochukwu completing the podium. Action was frequent throughout the 21-lap contest, with multiple red flags, bold overtakes, and dramatic moments from lights to flag.

Now attention turns to Sunday’s Feature Race, where James will once again line up from P27 — but this time with a clean run and full session in sight.
